Personal support worker has a wide scope of responsibilities/duties throughout the day:
- Co-operate with all members of the healthcare team
- Follow the protocol of the designated work
- Promotes safety and works in a safe manner
- Assists with range of motion exercises and other rehabilitative measures
- Changes bed linen, towels and performs laundry related tasks
- Assistance with all aspects of personal hygiene with dignity
- Takes and records blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, body weight and height
- Assists with ambulation and mobilization of patients
- Assistance with taking medication/reminding to take on-time
- Works as a supportive care worker for palliative care and hospice patients
- Observes and reports clinical and treatment findings, behavioral changes and changes in ongoing conditions
- Maintains records and documents procedures
- Provides emotional support to patients and families
- Assists with meal preparation, grocery shopping, feeding, dietary planning, food handling
- Practices universal precautions and maintains a clean working environment
To summarize, our personal support worker will do everything that needs to be done for the client while on duty, within the scope of the service agreement.
